Lamentations 2:14-16

¹⁴ Your ^(A)prophets have beheld for you
Worthless and ineffective visions;
And they have not ^(B)uncovered your iniquity
So as to ^[a]return you from captivity,
But they have ^(C)beheld for you worthless and misleading ^[b]oracles.

¹⁵ All who pass along the way
^(D)Clap their hands in derision at you;
They ^(E)hiss and shake their heads
At the daughter of Jerusalem,
“Is this the city of which they said,
‘^(F)The perfection of beauty,
^(G)The joy of the whole earth’?”

¹⁶ All ^(H)your enemies
Have opened their mouths wide against you;
They hiss and ^(I)gnash their teeth.
They say, “We have ^(J)swallowed her up!
Surely this is the ^(K)day for which we have hoped;
We have found it, we have seen it.”
